Warranty

Warranty Policy

Every watch purchased from Stalder & Reid through stalderandreid.co.uk and delivered within the United Kingdom benefits from warranty coverage as described in this policy.

All watches are covered for at least two years, with the applicable warranty period beginning on the date the watch is delivered to you.

Depending on the watch and manufacturer, warranty coverage may be provided through the Stalder & Reid two-year limited movement warranty or through an applicable manufacturer warranty.

Where a manufacturer provides a warranty period longer than two years, the longer manufacturer warranty applies in accordance with its own terms.

This warranty protection is provided in addition to, and does not replace, restrict or reduce, your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

1. Warranty Coverage

Every eligible watch purchased from Stalder & Reid has at least two years of movement warranty coverage from the date of delivery.

Where no applicable manufacturer warranty is supplied, the watch is covered by the Stalder & Reid Two-Year Limited Movement Warranty.

Where an applicable manufacturer warranty is supplied, that warranty applies in accordance with the manufacturer's own terms and conditions.

Where a manufacturer's warranty exceeds two years, the longer manufacturer warranty period applies.

2. TAG Heuer Manufacturer Warranty

TAG Heuer watches sold by Stalder & Reid are supplied with a five-year manufacturer warranty.

This warranty is provided directly by TAG Heuer and is governed by the applicable manufacturer's warranty terms and documentation supplied with the watch.

Where another manufacturer provides warranty protection longer than two years, the applicable longer manufacturer warranty will similarly apply in accordance with its terms.

3. Stalder & Reid Two-Year Limited Movement Warranty

Where a watch does not have its own applicable manufacturer warranty, Stalder & Reid provides a two-year limited movement warranty beginning on the date the watch is delivered to you.

No separate registration is required to activate the Stalder & Reid two-year limited movement warranty.

Watches covered by the Stalder & Reid warranty are supplied with:

  • a Stalder & Reid warranty card; and
  • a signed Stalder & Reid Certificate of Authenticity.

Watches supplied with their own applicable manufacturer warranty receive the relevant manufacturer warranty documentation instead.

4. Authenticity and Pre-Dispatch Checks

All watches sold by Stalder & Reid are brand new and authentic.

Where applicable, original serial numbers and case numbers remain intact.

Each watch is checked before dispatch to help ensure that it is supplied in appropriate condition and functioning correctly.

5. What the Stalder & Reid Warranty Covers

The Stalder & Reid limited warranty provides two years of movement coverage from the date the watch is delivered.

Subject to the terms of this warranty, coverage applies to faults or defects affecting the movement of the watch, including circumstances where a watch:

  • abnormally gains time;
  • abnormally loses time;
  • fails to keep time properly; or
  • develops another movement-related fault resulting from a covered defect.

Where a covered movement fault is confirmed, the applicable covered repair will be carried out without charge.

If a covered watch cannot reasonably be repaired, Stalder & Reid may, where appropriate, arrange a suitable replacement or another remedy consistent with the circumstances and your applicable legal rights.

6. What the Stalder & Reid Warranty Does Not Cover

The Stalder & Reid limited movement warranty does not cover damage or faults resulting from:

  • accident, misuse, abuse or negligence;
  • improper handling or use;
  • impact, crushing, dents or other accidental physical damage;
  • broken, cracked, scratched or otherwise damaged crystal;
  • damage to the case, crown, pushers or other external components;
  • damage, tearing, stretching or deterioration of a strap or bracelet;
  • cosmetic damage, scratches or changes in appearance;
  • normal wear and tear;
  • normal ageing or deterioration of materials;
  • routine maintenance or cleaning;
  • normal battery depletion;
  • exposure to chemicals, solvents or other damaging substances;
  • unauthorised alteration, dismantling, modification or repair;
  • water damage resulting from use inconsistent with the stated water resistance of the watch or from improper use; or
  • damage caused by failure to follow applicable manufacturer care instructions.

These exclusions relate to the voluntary Stalder & Reid commercial warranty and do not exclude any statutory rights that may apply.

7. Batteries

Batteries used in quartz watches are consumable components and are not covered by the Stalder & Reid two-year limited movement warranty where replacement is required solely as a result of normal battery depletion.

This does not affect your statutory rights where a battery-related issue results from a fault that existed when the product was supplied or where consumer law otherwise provides a remedy.

8. Water Resistance

Water resistance varies between watches and should only be relied upon to the level specifically stated for the relevant model or reference.

Water damage caused by use beyond the watch's specified water-resistance rating, improper operation in water or other misuse is not covered by the Stalder & Reid limited movement warranty.

Water resistance should not be assumed where a water-resistance rating has not been specifically stated for the watch.

9. Unauthorised Repairs or Modifications

An unauthorised repair, alteration, modification or dismantling may invalidate the Stalder & Reid warranty where that work has caused or contributed to the fault being claimed.

If your watch develops a problem during the warranty period, please contact Stalder & Reid Client Services before allowing a third party to undertake repair work.

10. Manufacturer Warranties

Some watches are supplied with a warranty provided directly by their manufacturer.

Manufacturer warranties are subject to the manufacturer's own coverage, exclusions, duration, claim procedures and other applicable terms.

Where the manufacturer's warranty period is longer than two years, the longer manufacturer warranty applies.

Information relating to an applicable manufacturer warranty may be stated on the relevant product page or provided with the watch.

Manufacturer warranties and the Stalder & Reid commercial warranty are separate from your statutory consumer rights.

11. How to Make a Warranty Claim

If you believe your watch has developed a fault covered by an applicable warranty, please contact:

Stalder & Reid Client Services
Email: clientservices@stalderandreid.co.uk
Telephone: +44 7723 658569

Please provide:

  • your Stalder & Reid order number or other proof of purchase;
  • the name and reference of the watch;
  • a clear description of the problem; and
  • photographs, video or other relevant information where reasonably requested.

Please do not send your watch before contacting Client Services.

We will provide the appropriate claim instructions and authorised service or return address.

12. Sending Your Watch for Warranty Assessment

Where a watch needs to be returned for assessment, diagnosis or repair, Client Services will provide the applicable return instructions and authorised address.

For a claim made under the Stalder & Reid commercial warranty, you may initially be responsible for the cost of sending the watch to the authorised assessment or service location.

If the reported fault is confirmed to be covered by the warranty, Stalder & Reid will reimburse the reasonable return postage cost paid by you.

Please retain reasonable evidence of the postage cost where reimbursement may apply.

We strongly recommend that watches are securely packaged and sent using a tracked and appropriately insured service.

Where your claim is instead made under statutory consumer rights and applicable law requires Stalder & Reid to bear particular return or delivery costs, those statutory rights take precedence over the commercial warranty procedure above.

13. Return of a Watch After a Covered Warranty Claim

Where a fault is confirmed as covered and warranty service is completed, Stalder & Reid will bear the reasonable cost of returning the watch to the customer within the United Kingdom.

If an assessment determines that the issue is not covered by the applicable commercial warranty, Client Services will explain the available options before any non-covered repair work is undertaken.

14. Warranty Assessment and Repair

Once received, the watch may be inspected and tested to determine the cause of the reported issue and whether it is covered by the applicable warranty.

Warranty assessment or service may involve:

  • inspection and diagnosis;
  • movement testing;
  • ordering required components;
  • repair or replacement of covered movement components;
  • timing or functional testing following repair; and
  • final quality checks before the watch is returned.

Where replacement parts are required for a covered repair, genuine parts will be used where applicable and available.

15. Repair Times

The time required to complete a warranty assessment or repair varies depending on factors including:

  • the nature of the reported fault;
  • diagnosis;
  • the watch and movement involved;
  • availability of genuine components;
  • whether manufacturer involvement is required; and
  • the repair work required.

For these reasons, we do not promise a fixed warranty repair timeframe.

Client Services will provide updates where appropriate during the assessment and repair process.

16. Problems Identified on Delivery

Although watches are checked before dispatch, if you notice a problem when your order arrives, please contact Stalder & Reid Client Services as soon as reasonably possible.

Prompt reporting may help us investigate and resolve the issue more efficiently.

There is no 24-hour or 48-hour reporting condition that removes or restricts your statutory consumer rights.

17. Proof of Purchase

A valid Stalder & Reid order number or other reasonable proof of purchase will normally be required to process a warranty claim.

Where your watch was supplied with manufacturer warranty documentation, please retain that documentation.

Where your watch is covered by the Stalder & Reid commercial warranty, we recommend retaining your:

  • order confirmation or invoice;
  • Stalder & Reid warranty card; and
  • signed Stalder & Reid Certificate of Authenticity.

18. Territorial Scope

The Stalder & Reid Two-Year Limited Movement Warranty described in this policy applies to watches purchased through stalderandreid.co.uk and delivered to customers within the United Kingdom.

Manufacturer warranties may have their own territorial conditions, which are governed by the applicable manufacturer's warranty documentation.

19. Your Statutory Consumer Rights

Commercial and manufacturer warranties are separate from the rights provided to consumers by law.

Under UK consumer law, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.

Depending on the circumstances, consumers may have statutory rights to remedies including repair, replacement, price reduction or refund where goods do not meet the applicable legal requirements.

The existence or expiry of a commercial warranty does not by itself remove statutory rights that may otherwise apply.

Nothing in this Warranty Policy excludes, restricts or replaces your statutory consumer rights.
